What’s New in iPhone OS 4.0

Apple unveiled iPhone OS 4.0 at 2010 April 8, which presented by Apple CEO Steve Jobs.

Here are the main features which announced:

1) Multitasking

Background Audio – listen to your app while you surf the web, play games, and more
Voice over IP – VoIP apps can now receive VoIP calls while using another app
Background location – Navigation apps can now continue to guide users while using another app or listening to iPod
Push Notifications – Receive alerts from remote servers even when the app isn’t running
Local Notifications – Alert users of scheduled events and alarms in the background, no servers required
Task Finishing – If your app is in mid-task when your customer leaves it, the app can now keep running to finish the task.
Fast app switching – No more having to reload the app

2) Folders

Users will be able to create folders like “Games” and drag and drop apps into those folders, which can simplifying the home screen

3) iAd

Apple’s new mobile advertising platform
Display full-screen video and interactive ad content without ever leaving the app, and letting users return to their app anytime they choose
Developers will receive 60 percent of iAd revenue

4) Game Center
