Apple iPhone and iPod Touch IMPACT on US Game Industry
When Apple introduced iPod and iPhone in 2001 and 2007, who can predict they would become major players in the video games industry?
Let’s check out the research by Flurry – a mobile research company, which named “Apple iPhone and iPod touch Capture US Video Game Market Share”.
Because of the lower App Store pricing, it is the most dangerous thing to the publishers and developers. They can sell the game in PSP / NDS for $30 – $60, but they have to sell their title in app store for $10 or less…
As a game developer, we are so glad to sell our application in App Store because of the open market. However, the environment of app store is too competitive. E.G. Low selling price, lots of games, short development cycle… Most of the developer focus on marketing more than development.
Although the market is bigger than before, have you find any titles you love most which only sold in App Store?
